The Next Chapter: A failing system

I pulled my five-year-old out of the swampy lake and blood was pouring from his foot. I internally debated staying or going but the amount of blood made me anxious and I decided to go. This would be our first ever ER visit. Nurse after nurse came and went. X-rays were taken. His chubby foot was wrapped and unwrapped by each individual filtering through our room.
