Undergrad Intern - Facilities & Engineering (F&E)

Job/Project Description:
Amgen's Facilities & Engineering (F&E) department at our Rhode Island location is looking for two undergraduate students interested in a 10 - 12 week internship to support Project and daily support of ongoing manufacturing, specific to Engineering initiatives, to offload current Process Engineers workload.

Basic project execution tasks working directly on engineering-related issues and enhancements. Will gain experience with state of the art manufacturing technology, equipment and computer systems, as well as on-floor commissioning and troubleshooting in a fast-paced, Biotech manufacturing environment. Examples of projects that they will support include:

1. Documentation field verification, updates
2. Execution of Engineering Test Plans
3. Yield/efficiency improvements for equipment and automated computer systems

Basic Qualifications
Must be in the process of pursuing a Bachelors degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
• Must be 18 years or older;
• Must be a current full time student
• Must have completed at least one full year of study at the time of application;
• Must have not yet graduated;
• Must be in good academic standing within their majors and overall at their university;
• Must be enrolled in school the fall season following the potential internship or co-op assignment.
• Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications
• Sound understanding of basic engineering principles and ability to apply them to resolve process issues.
• Strong math and computer skills, and possess the ability to apply science-based thinking to practical applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team based environment.
• Energetic and technically-minded individual.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work requests.
• Experience/knowledge in Biotech/Pharma manufacturing processes.
• Experience with equipment design, build, commissioning such as P&IDs, Process Descriptions, User Requirements and mechanical system walkdowns/check-out
