Training Specialist
Training Specialist Category: Human Resources Type: Full Time Description: SUMMARY: The Training Specialist designs and conducts company training programs, monitors and reports the effectiveness of training, updates existing programs, maintains training data, manages training logistics and supports the field from a training perspective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
· Selects or develops teaching aids such as training manuals, case study materials, multimedia visual aids, computer-based training and tutorials, and reference materials.
· Designs and edits training materials and/or curriculum based on experience and research with subject matter experts.
· Prepares training materials and conducts training for specific projects, including local classroom sessions and field training, as needed.
· Creates Manager On-boarding Plans for newly hired Managers and follow-ups on progress through first 6 weeks.
· Evaluate trainees to measure progress and to measure effectiveness of training.
· Assess and report on progress of employees during and after training periods.
· Select, develop and maintain testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.
· Determine methods to improve training effectiveness.
· Supports the field by phone and email, with various training issues and requests.
· Regularly uploads outsourced or external training data to maintain employee required training compliance reports - TIPS, ServSafe, Harassment, EST, Mechanics and U of B.
· Maintains Training Department statistical data, including Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to track trainee attendance, expenses, statistical information, budget tracking and other data.
· Processes vendor invoices for payment, assuring proper authorization and account coding. Sets up direct billing accounts where possible.
· Auditsexpense reports for trainees nation-wide, and tracks individual expenses by person, class, month, etc.
· Suggests efficiencies for improving processes within the department.
· Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:Training Specialists possess a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), solid communication skills, strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity (thought, ethnic, gender, etc.).
Training Specialist also posses a strong initiative and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Experience in Training related field or in a Coordinator role preferred. Strong knowledge of PC and network based software (MS Office Suite, JD Edwards or People Soft). Relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
