CPF also organizes communities to support neighborhood parks through its Partnerships for Parks program. Partnerships for Parks is an innovative joint program of City Parks Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation founded in 1995. Because we believe that active and involved communities are essential to vibrant parks and neighborhoods, and to a healthy city, Partnerships for Parks helps New Yorkers work together to make neighborhood parks thrive. We strengthen our diverse, growing network of dedicated park volunteers and groups by creating opportunities for them to celebrate their parks and accomplishments, access resources, become more effective leaders in their communities, and work with government to affect decisions about their parks. POSITION DESCRIPTION Partnerships for Parks Technical Assistance (TA) program builds the capacity of Partnerships staff and parks volunteers citywide to better accomplish their goals and ensure the sustainability of their work. We do this by offering grants, specialized trainings and consultations, publications, and new initiatives to expand public participation in parks. The program also furthers CPF and Agency priorities through grant-funded special projects; current initiatives include supporting new immigrant park users, increasing community involvement in the Capital process, and encouraging sustainable park and street tree stewardship through Partnerships Academy and other programs. Partnerships for Parks is seeking a Program Director to provide overall vision, management and strategic support for the TA staff and the program as a whole. The Director will: Oversee the program articulate program direction, develop and implement projects, and measure effectiveness. Supervise and support five TA program staff whose responsibilities include grant administration, graphic design, developing and leading training for parks groups, managing special projects, and documenting best practices. Develop and maintain relationships with nonprofits, TA providers and grantors, Parks & Recreation, and CPF. Oversee grant-making and fiscal sponsorship activity. Create and manage project budgets, fulfill grant requirements, and provide information for CPF Development. Write and review Partnerships-wide and TA Program materials including information for parks groups, website and newsletter content, and reports. Serve on Partnerships leadership team to guide program priorities, implement PFP-wide projects including the Catalyst for Waterfront Parks initiative, and participate in organizational planning and decision-making. Work with leadership team and TA staff to support Partnerships staff development. Additional Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Four to six years organization development, training and facilitation, grant-making, and/or urban environmental experience. Familiarity with New York City area preferred. Significant staff management experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong ability to work with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated project and program management experience, including documentation and evaluation. Experience with community information collection, synthesis and analysis, and creative problem solving skills. Experience with organizational development and/or strategic planning. Comfort and facility with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends Advanced degree in relevant area of study or equivalent strongly preferred. Bachelors degree required.
