We serve over 300 children pre-natal to five years old and their families annually. The vast majority of the children and families we serve are low-income, immigrants/refugees. General Description of Duties: Transportation Services: Bus Monitor works to establish and maintain safe and dependable transportation services for Denise Louie Education Center students, families and staff. Specific Job Qualifications for this position: High School Diploma Ability to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedule with driver One year experience working with young children Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and special events Knowledge of basic office equipment: copy, fax, voice mail Ability to complete required paperwork and reporting. Bilingual in English and language(s) needed as determined by DLEC preferred. Job Duties: 1. With Transportation Services and other DLEC staff, assist in the establishment, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of a process for a safe, efficient, effective and comprehensive system for the daily and continuous delivery of transportation services. 2. Assist and work with each other within the Transportation Services Department and education staff in activities which promote vehicle safety and personal safety in the vehicles. 3. Assist Family and Community Partnership staff in parent activities which promote vehicle safety and personal safety in the vehicles. 4. Work with the Lead Bus Driver, Bus Drivers and Child Development staff to coordinate field trips. 5. Work with the Lead Bus Driver, Family Service Manager and other staff to ensure the health and safety of children with special transportation needs. 6. Complete all paperwork, records, and logs related to the position and submit as required. 7. Inform the Lead Bus Driver if sick or otherwise absent. 8. Work to resolve conflict arising from questions or concerns involving transportation issues. 9. Be responsible for constructive use of non-riding time. 10. Work as part of the Transportation Services team. 11. Attend meetings as required, both individual and group. 12. Identify and attend meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. which relate to job description and promotes professional development. 13. Translations as required/feasible. 14. Work with Special Needs/Mental Health Manager and other staff to ensure the health and safety of children with special health needs by attending needed trainings/staffings. 15. Be responsible for ensuring first aid kits, mess kits and disaster kits are complete, checked monthly and restocked as necessary. 16. Other duties as assigned.
