POSITION TITLE: Youth Program Assistant Teacher PROGRAM: Youth Program REPORTS TO: Youth Program Manager SUPERVISES: N/A STATUS/PAY: Non-exempt Regular Part Time, 15 hours/week, $14/hour SUMMARY: Provide refugee and immigrant children with academic assistance, enrichment activities, and aid in the assistance of Youth Program operation RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Tutor and supervise program participants to meet contract requirements and goals 2. Implement program curriculum per lead teachers direction 3. Direct and assist volunteers in working with students 4. Maintain attendance records and monitor participant files to ensure required documentation is complete 5. Recruit students as well as work with other youth program staff to insure efforts meet contract goals and requirements 6. Maintain inventory list of supplies and books; update as needed 7. Ensure facility is cleaned and returned to original condition after each session 8. Attend program and staff meetings and training 9. Other related duties as assigned by program manager and lead teachers 10. Attend program and staff meetings and training as requested by the Program Manager 11. Other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ? Knowledge of refugee and immigrant family issues ? Prior work or volunteer experience teaching or tutoring youth ? Fundamental knowledge of and experience in curriculum implementation ? Experience working with children from diverse cultures and backgrounds ? Strong organizational and outreach skills ? Effective verbal and written communication skills ? Ability to work effectively with diverse program participants and staff. ? Record-keeping skills ? Patience and flexibility ? Respect for others? experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge ? Available for flexible hours (evenings and weekends) ? WA state driver?s license and vehicle insurance ?
