Sr. Instructional Designer
Minimum 3 years of applicable corporate work experience in instructional design and development with varied learning methodologies, designing formalized learning programs and experience with distance learning is required.
Responsibilities:
Plans and directs curriculum team and/or content experts in all phases of the curriculum development process including, but not limited to, course/program design, development of learning assessments at the course and program level, and development of faculty guides using adult learning principles.
Maintains the instructional integrity and educational effectiveness and quality of curriculum.
Maintains and updates content within existing curriculum as needed and develops content for new curriculum as needed.
Designs curriculum framework that includes interactive e-learning resources as appropriate for a variety of delivery platforms.
Designs and maintains assessments and measuring tools for course curriculum that supports course objectives achievement tests, questionnaires, simulations scenarios, grading criteria and program outcomes.
Serves as project manager on all course development, interacts and works collaboratively and creatively with all levels of management and SME’s to ensure that design, development, and delivery of training is consistent with business initiative objectives.
Analyzes organizational training needs and design learning products in multiple formats (e.g. instructor-led, self-study, web-based, pod-casts, and simulation) that support business goals and improves individual performance.
Works with trainers and subject matter experts to pilot/test training materials.
Supports the implementations by editing materials based on feedback, resolves conflicts in instructional strategy in the design and development of curriculum.
Writes policy, procedure, technical documentation and updates training materials in conjunction with operational changes.
Improves the effectiveness of training programs by identifying instructional media options. Ensures that all training materials developed are consistent with the Training Team standard..
Experience
Bachelor’s degree or any combination of equivalent experience and/or education in Training and Development, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Education, Educational Technology, Training, Visual Arts or the equivalent work experience required.
Minimum 3-5 years of applicable corporate work experience in instructional design and development with varied learning methodologies, designing formalized learning programs and experience with distance learning is required.
Knowledge of Instructional Design methodologies (required). Advanced knowledge of designing and developing learning solutions using a blended approach that includes instructor led, web-based self paced, and on-the-job training tools.
Expertise in training needs analysis, program design and development, training implementation practices, and adult learning theory in a corporate environment. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, learning styles, and learner needs.
Must have a demonstrated ability to design and implement training solutions with a blended approach, including instructor led, e-learning, web-based training curriculum, and learning management systems (LMS) using the following (required): Intermediate to advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate knowledge & experience with training development software programs, web authoring, multi-media and publishing tools (e.g. Adobe Captivate).
Experience in rapid e-learning authoring tools, such as Adobe E-Learning Suite (including Captivate, SoundBooth, Flash, Photoshop, Presenter, Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash and/or other SCORM authoring tools)etc) or Articulate Presenter. Intermediate experience in designing distance based learning and knowledge of the systems that support online learning. Knowledge of Learning Management System (LMS), including beta/alpha/usability testing and eLearning distribution. Excellent interpersonal skills (required).
Effective collaboration and consultation skills in a corporate environment with cross-functional teams, colleagues, and SME to gather source content. Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation and facilitation skills to deal with internal and external contacts. Must have the ability to work in teams and to interact successfully at all levels within the organization with other departments with the ability to work on multiple projects.
The ability to present and discuss information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
Strong project management and organizational skills with sensitivity to deadlines (required).
Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities concurrently in a fast paced environment at a high level of competence.
Develop eLearning, and meet milestones established by the project manager as well as a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. Project Management experience and excellent time management skills.
