Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant. Main Responsibilities: * Retrieval of source documents; validation and reconciliations against transactions posted in the Agency accounting system* Analyze financial statement balances, trial balances, subsidiary ledgers, and identify variances and imbalances* Review and analyze quarterly financial statements to meet the DoD 21-day financial statement reporting schedule; prepare monthly accounting metrics* Perform research and analysis and document findingsFederal Accountant Qualifications: * 6 years of experience in performing business and/or accounting management tasks for commercial / government organizations* Government accounting and experience is a plus* BA / BS Degree* CPA or CPA candidate (a plus)* Must be detail oriented* Must possess excellent MS Excel skills and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint* Travel is required for the position at least two times a year for at least a week at a time Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
