POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION: Junior Training Coordinator OPEN: August 19, 2010 NHN Learning Alliance LOCATION: San Antonio, TX CLOSE: When filled CONTACT: Julie Perez, Human Resources Manager SALARY: $30,000$35,000 Commensurate with experience BACKGROUND The National Council of La Raza (NCLR)the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United Statesworks to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations, NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areasassets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families. Founded in 1968, NCLR is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Washington, DC. NCLR serves all Hispanic subgroups in all regions of the country and has regional offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, and San Antonio. POSITION SUMMARY NCLRs Housing and Community Development (HCD) component seeks a Junior Training Coordinator for the NCLR Homeownership Network Learning Alliance (NHNLA). The NHN Learning Alliance was created to deliver training nationwide to housing counseling agencies in an effort to extend practitioner-level expertise to its counselors. The Junior Training Coordinator will provide support for the logistics of the NHN Learning Alliance training and certification program to help ensure that its executed accurately and appropriately. The mission of the HCD component is to increase the wealth of Latino communities and families through community-based programs. A primary vehicle for achieving this goal is the NCLR Homeownership Network, NCLRs largest wealth-building program. The NHN consists of 51community-based organizations that receive grant funding from NCLR to provide financial and homeownership counseling to Latinos in 25 states across the country. NHN organizations collaborate with financial groups, government entities, and other community institutions to increase Hispanic homeownership and asset-building opportunities. NCLRs team of community development specialists works to build the capacity of NHN organizations through programmatic, organizational, and strategic planning. This position reports to the Senior Community Development Specialistand Training Coordinator Based in San Antonio, TX. RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate submission of registration applications to the NHN Learning Alliance; this includes determining eligibility and contacting the appropriate individuals. Communicate with relevant staff regarding the progress of the course enrollment and recommendations for needed actions. Monitor incoming inquiries, by phone, email, or otherwise regarding general training information. Monitor testing sites for individuals completing exams. Participate in outreach strategies and means to increase attendance at training sessions. Navigate a variety of internal technologies to execute the training program. Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing. Maintain hard copy and electronic filing systems. Support staff in project-based work.
