Responsible for managing the development of private brand/label programs and style plans within the context of the sales/margin plans and business strategy. Responsible for sales, turn, MU%, VM and stock levels.
This position reports to Product Director or Senior Product Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
Sales / Margin:
Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and analyzing merchandise performance by program and style.
Monitor Style Adoption Rate vs. Plan
Responsible for communicating, conducting, and selling to division.
Prepare the presentation materials for line previews and buy meetings to help ensure customer buys appropriate assortment.
Communicate strategies of product area with division.
Responsible for recapping and finalizing program and style placements.
Analyze current and historic sales/margins and market trends to assist customers in placing appropriate assortments at line previews and buy meetings.
Vendor Management
Work directly with core vendors to manage merchandise performance overall (programs, key items, sales, margins).
Initiate vendor intensification efforts and identify new vendors through competitive shopping and consistent market presence.
Identify, communicate and drive sales and gross margin of key items and key vendors.
Managing Assortments
Gain solid understanding of competitive landscape by constantly shopping competition and up-coming trend businesses.
Lead in identifying merchandising trends, opportunities and new vendors.
Lead in generating customer (division) support of line and plans by gathering product and performance input, sharing line development direction and promoting the assortments.
Merchandising:
Monitor line development activities to ensure time and action plan is followed.
Owner of the Production Flow - ensure on time shipping through following timeline (production, design, marketing, logistics)
Manage the communication process with suppliers to develop each program and style and to plan and place orders
Collaborate with all suppliers to establish and finalize all material and production reservations and to confirm all production costs
Negotiate costing for all styles to achieve competitive pricing and strategic mark-up targets
Responsible for sales, turn, MU%, VM and stock levels.
Strategic Planning:
Communicate regularly with the division, design and vendor partners to gather input, share line development direction, and to communicate business strategies.
Develop line plans down to classification and style level.
Participate in editing and merchandising product line to fit into the program and style plans.
Communicate all target costs and negotiate pricing with overseas offices and domestic vendors (for area of ownership).
Responsible for presenting at best seller meetings and making recommendations.
Systems and Technology:
Manage the development of the line list based on finalized style plan and merchandising information.
Manage and oversee master contract maintenance and creation.
Manage information input process and possess bottom line accountability for the integrity and accuracy of all data entered into the systems.
Human Resources:
Manage and develop Associate PM, Product Assistants, trainees and interns as determined through department hierarchy.
Detailed accountabilites
Sales / Margin:
Responsible for coordinating and distributing completed style placement packages to Overseas Offices, Design and Production, and to the Division for recap.
Lead buy recap meeting; recap program and style placements and communicate to BD/PD any callouts assuring minimums are met.
Manage/oversee the preparation, sending, and presenting line preview and buy meeting materials to customers.
Compile and share information within organization on trends, pricing, positioning, materials and assortments.
Monitor merchandise performance through the management of key item system.
Merchandising:
Define the fashion uniform to drive multiple sales and to elevate the level of trend in the brand.
Edit and merchandise product line to fit into the program and style plans.
Shop retail markets to seek new merchandise ideas; analyze competitor activity and pricing strategies; and identify assortment opportunities and product trends for season.
Assign suggested retail prices and strategic markup targets.
Work with Senior PM and Director to plan, place, and manage the supplier base for department.
Collaborate with overseas offices in selecting supplier, negotiating style and program costs, and placing orders.
Assist in MD process and SPA accruals.
Determine and merchandise prints by categories.
Marketing:
Work with Brand Manager and Marketing on all marketing needs related to the product category/brand.
Identify with Marketing new packaging, label, and hangtag needs and assist/mange the follow up tracking of these requests.
Customs:
Manage and supervise Associate Product Manager and/or Product Assistant's interaction with Customs Department ensuring that proper HTS number and duty is applied to the item.
Quality Control:
Work closely with the QC department to ensure all products meet quality and safety standards.
Strategic Planning:
Coordinate and manage set-up of Image line list.
Participate in strategic meetings with recommended assortments (Key Resources, Design, and Team Management).
Production / Logistics:
Attend fit sessions to ensure the sample product's adherence to the program and styles expected ""look"" and quality and to ensure its production is within budget.
Finalize all order details, materials and production reservations with overseas offices.
Coordinate with Logistics and vendors to resolve shipping issues.
Human Resources:
Redirect and request appropriate resources for department during peak workflows.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Minimum 4-5 years of retail experience (Store or Buying Office) and Product Development.
Possess strong organizational Merchandising and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiating skills.
Proficient in PC operation, MS Office, and Excel.
Ability to be detail-oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and be able to motivate others.
** (Internal Candidate) Working knowledge of Corporate Systems.
Ability to view and differentiate the color spectrum.
Able to travel within the US.
