Principal Scientist, Nutrition Job
Description
Develop program to build PepsiCo's knowledge and technical depth around the nutritional needs of and the impact of dietary components and patterns on children. Develop recommendations and support activities to translate cohort nutrition science into compelling business opportunities. Identify potential external partners and establish partnerships to uncover relevant breakthrough nutrition science & platforms that deliver against targeted cohort needs. Provide in house nutrition science expertise to business partners and other corporate functions. - Support and champion activities to define new business opportunities to improve chlidren's nutrition - Develop strategic approach to establish and archive comprehensive global nutrition knowledge for children, informing specific PepsiCo initiatives, identifying required data and sources - Develop in depth knowledge and understanding of existing research, key programs and products targeting improved children's nutrition - Collaborate externally, building relationships with experts and partnering with a wide variety of internal and external resources, including governmental, academic, and clinical - Coordinate project work across multiple PepsiCo businesses and functions, ensuring maximum collaboration and impact - Identify and justify required project resource needs, including staff, budget, etc. - Effectively communicate results to inform colleagues and influence business opportunities - Coordinate work with global nutrition working group's ongoing activities to collectively accomplish project goals - Aggressively manage projects to meet timelines and business requirements - Provide technical leadership to R&D management and business teams by contributing sound advice on technical issues affecting business decisions - Represent PepsiCo in scientific and technical arenas related to development of cohort nutrition knowledge
Requirements:
- Degree in nutritional sciences or closely related field: MS +7 yrs experience or PhD +5years experience; R.D. preferred; consumer products industry experience a plus - Demonstrated understanding of human nutrition; nutrient requirements; nutritional status; dietary assessment tools; scientific information gathering, synthesis, and communication; research study design and interpretation - Experience in nutritional interventions with children - Experience with school nutrition and meal programs a plus - Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with various personalities and work styles, and good influence management skills - Strong personal leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams - Ability to partner with a wide variety of internal and external resources - Positive learner highly creative individual with desire to gain and apply knowledge to new processes and products - Ability to manage and help technical and non-technical partners understand nutritional complexities across R&D, business partners and corporate functions.
