People Consultant, Associate Director - Financial Services Office
Job summary As People Consultant Associate Director, you'll manage the Human Resource (HR) activities in a complex, large national practice or sub-Area. You'll support a diverse and complex client group, often consisting of more senior/executive individuals. In this role, you'll address and resolve challenging employee/partner inquiries on a wide range of HR topics, from employee relations to compensation. You'll decide which issues can be resolved, and which need to be escalated to the most senior members of the People team. Working with the business or sub-Area leadership team, you'll design and/or implement HR initiatives that drive business results. You'll be expected to works independently on non-recurring projects with limited direction, and will supervise other HR team members. As People Consultant Associate Director, overtime and travel are expected. Responsibilities
Provide strategic-level consultation to Business Unit leaders, for people-related programs and processes. Recommend plans and initiatives that will drive business results
Proactively provide counsel and guidance, prior to business decisions being made. Establish and use relationships to achieve goals and results. Become recognized by senior leaders as a business partner
Handle and resolve high-risk, complex employee relations issues (including terminations of senior employees/executives)
Execute significant HR processes to a high quality, including compensation, performance management, career development, etc.
Interpret detailed analysis, and recommend on staffing levels, salaries and people-related budget items
Initiate change management initiatives, and lead constituents through significant change
Manage or project manage large, complex projects
Supervise and/or mentor other team members
Interpret data on headcount (including turnover), salary budgets, and adverse impact
Assess situations to determine ways to mitigate risk. Escalate any concerns to appropriate parties (e.g., General Counsel Office (GCO), Quality and Risk Management (Q&RM), Employee Assistance Program (EAP))
Provide input on organizational restructuring, staffing, leadership assessments or other key HR business initiatives
Knowledge and skills requirements
Ability to consult with the most senior levels of the organization
Advanced knowledge of HR law and practices
Solid project management, organizational skills, and good attention to detail
Strong business acumen
Adept at influencing multiple constituents
Strong networking skills, and the ability to build relationships with individuals in your own and other functions
Solid understanding of the internal practices and procedures of a professional services organization
Experience
A minimum of 10 or more years of related work experience
Education
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience; Masters degree preferred
Society for Human Resource Certification (SHRM) or Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) certification beneficial
