Network Data Communication Engineer 2
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Start your future throp Grumman! Northrop Grumman Information Technology (NGIT) sector is seeking a Network Data Communication Engineer to join our team in defining the future. This position will be located in Palmdale CA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Network Services Team in Palmdale.
This is a full time position reporting to the Network Services Western Region Manager. The candidate should have demonstrated performance in working in a fast paced environment delivering a high degree of quality and customer satisfaction. Flexible hours are required. Also, candidate must possess leadership, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and good interpersonal skills and a strong willingness to learn.
Job responsibilities
• Provide network engineering support to both Northrop Grumman's corporate network and program specific networks in Palmdale, CA
• Use best practice methodologies to design and implement network configurations that meet customer needs.
• Install and configure Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
• Establish and maintain VPN tunnels to remote suppliers
• Update documentation as required
• Meet with customer to understand requirements for new projects.
• Provide second and third level break/fix and troubleshooting support
• Be able to travel up to 1 week per month
Basic Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years experience (advanced degrees will be considered in lieu of experience).
• B.S degree required
• Strong Knowledge of TCP/IP Strong knowledge of LAN concepts such as VLANs, trunking (port tagging) and spanning-tree
• Strong knowledge of WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3)
• IP addressing design and subnets
• Experience using test equipment such as protocol analyzers and cable test sets
• Knowledge of government grade encryption gear such as KG-175s (TACLANE)
• Knowledge of Cisco hardware
• Knowledge of classified network design is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good project management skills
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications: Top Secret Clearance
