Managing Director
Position: Managing Director Reports to: The Board of Directors Seasons Centre for Grieving Children (the รข?oeCentre) Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, with flexibility for evening and/or weekend work requirements Salary: $55,000 to $65,000 Role and Responsibilities 4 Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Managing Director is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, overseeing and managing all operations of the Centre including delivery of its programs and services in accordance with the pertinent legislation and within the parameters of the approved annual operating budget. 4 The Managing Director is also responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Board's policy, financial and administrative directives. Responsibilities: Board: 4 Manage the overall strategic direction of the Centre's programming and administration, in partnership with the Board and staff; 4 Implement Board policies and directives within the parameters of legislative and regulatory provisions, and the by-laws, policies and directives of the Board; 4 Support the Board in the development of Strategic, Communications and annual operating plans and budgets; 4 Attend Board meetings and provide timely advice to the Board regarding any developments that might affect the Centre's capacity to pursue its objectives; 4 Support the Board in development of the competencies of Board members to fulfill their responsibilities. Finance: 4 Manage the Centre's financial and human resources in pursuit of its objectives; 4 Manage the Centre's revenues and expenditures within the parameters of the approved budget; 4 Develop proposed annual budgets and program plans in conjunction with the Development Director and Programming Director for presentation to the Board; 4 Develop information systems and providing reports that allow the Board to assess the financial status of the Centre, the general well-being of its workforce and progress in meeting its objectives. Administration: 4 Provide leadership and direction to the staff and volunteers of the Centre; 4 Supervise the Programming Director, the Development Director and the Office Manager; 4 Manage and mitigate risks to the Centre, its clients and board; 4 Manage all employee and contractor relationships, consistent with the provisions of applicable legislation, regulations, funder requirements, standards, contracts and agreements. Communications: 4 Write and/or oversee the production of all communications initiatives including the Centre's website, marketing materials, press releases, social media, print and email communications; 4 Cultivate, develop and facilitate new relationships and partnerships which support the Centre's growth and mandate; 4 Represent the Centre positively to the community in general and key stakeholders more specifically; 4 Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with the Board, staff, volunteers, clients, contractors, funders, other key stakeholders, the media and the public at large. Leadership and Management: 4 Create an empowered team environment for staff by guiding, mentoring, supervising and supporting them in reaching their full potential and in exceeding their goals; 4 Establish clear performance goals, expectations and benchmarks and implement processes to evaluate individual and team successes; 4 Model a high level of professionalism in all interactions, communications and activities. Work Environment / Health & Safety: 4 Proactively and effectively resolves health and safety issues in a timely manner; 4 Takes initiative to recommend improvements to the workplace, in accordance with current legislation and regulations; 4 Keeps current with all applicable legislation and regulations pertaining to Health and Safety. Education: 4 Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance, or in a related field; 4 Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalent experience. Experience: 4 Minimum 5 years experience in a senior management position; 4 Demonstrated expertise and experience managing a charitable, not-for-profit organization for two or more years is an asset. Qualifications/ Competencies: 4 Demonstrated success in management; 4 Exceptional Human Resources skills; 4 Demonstrated communications experience (web, social media, press releases, etc.); 4 Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills; 4 Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills; 4 Excellent organizational and time management skills ; 4 Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word and Excel; 4 Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints; 4 Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain composure under pressure in a constantly changing environment; 4 Must have a valid Driver's Licence, clean driving abstract and daily access to a reliable vehicle.
