Overview:
The District Human Resources Manager will support Stores Own Sales, Balanced Scorecard and My Macy's through leading and developing a team of Stores Human Resource professionals in the Herald Square District. This is accomplished through a focus on enhancing talent, promoting an environment of open and honest communication, and directing priorities for the key focus areas of the team. The District HRM will emphasize a team-oriented culture dedicated to quality exceptional performance.
Key Accountabilities:
Talent Development / Recruitment
  • Play an integral role in building a high performing HR team, focused on leadership and career development
  • Provide coaching and development to Store HRMs on how to educate Store Management team on building associate talent within the Herald Square district
  • Ensure HR teams have the tools and support needed to provide appropriate Human Resource support in their store
  • Developing a learning culture, to support company's commitment to talent and development
  • Champion positive employee relations by assessing and coaching via frequent floor visits with HRMs
  • Lead HRMs in ensuring Talent Assessments are being conducted on a monthly basis; utilize to develop a roadmap to succession plan internal talent to higher level positions
  • Work with Human Resource Managers to drive associate development of the associates identified during quarterly review
  • Manage Associate Development opportunities to identify and retain top Associate Talent (i.e. Opportunity 2011, Bench Interviews)
  • Partner with HRMs to ensure we are monitoring Associate retention for the identified Associates
  • Collaborate with Human Resource Managers to manage and coordinate the hiring of Specialized jobs and strategies on best methods to fill all open jobs
  • Aggressively and creatively develop a recruitment strategy to identify results oriented Associates
  • Establish a monthly recruiting activity calendar to include the planning and execution of internal/external job fairs
  • Partner with Director of Employment to ensure postings are current, and we are maximizing 3 rd party sites
  • Lead talent performance process to include training of executives on appraisal system and goals, manage identified action plans for top talent and low performers and ensure appropriate documentation development and follow through.
Employment
  • Drives organization business strategies through the Store HRMs by driving organizational talent initiatives via facilitating the interview / assessment process, associate development, and placement of associate talent through succession planning and talent assessments.
  • Lead Associate Employment Process for the district
  • Responsible for maintaining high quality HR standards as it relates to HR metrics
  • Facilitate a collaborative relationship between Store Management and Store HRMs to ensure that staffing levels are met with a focus on increased team member success, retention, and commitment through staffing and on-boarding
  • Ensure employment process is timely and appropriate candidate experience
  • Train Human Resource Managers on Recruitment Strategies to attract and retain the best talent; include sourcing, interviewing, networking, and interview coordination with hiring managers
  • Serve as Human Resources contact for Visual, Loss Prevention, and Overnight Processing Associates
  • Ensure desired candidate experience in partnership with the Store HRMs and AST Supervisor
Retention
  • Create a culture where Associate engagement is high and Macy's is viewed as an employer of choice
  • Ensuring commitment to consistency and follow-up in performance coaching and the corrective action process throughout the District through partnership with HRM - Performance Management
  • Monitor the use of and effectiveness of the On-boarding process
  • Ensure maintenance of the Employee Services areas including appropriate materials and equipment
General
  • Proactively make recommendations to improve HR operations and value added to business operations
  • Work through Stores HRM to ensure human resource needs are met in a timely manner
  • Advise Store HRMs on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment, and employee relation investigations.
  • Ensure we are administratively compliant in regards to all audit processes. Partner with HRM of Administrative Compliance to address any deficiencies.
  • Partner with Regional Labor Relations to identify training deficiencies for HRMs and store management in order to support Herald Square's labor relations needs, Stores' HR initiatives and communicate any potential union issues and grievances.
  • Partner with the Regional Labor Relations team to ensure the timely resolution of associate issues and to provide labor contract education to the HRMs and store management.
