IT Analyst, Associate (IT Security)
POSITION OVERVIEW :
Under direct supervision, performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets for small IT systems and to protect small systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interfaces with user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to accommodate those needs. Ensures that user community knows and follows necessary procedures to maintain security. Conducts accurate evaluation of the level of security required for small IT systems. This is an entry-level position for individuals who are moving into the area of IT security.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Performs information security administration function for multiple platforms, including ActiveDirectory, IBM midrange, and application-specific solutions.
• Monitors vulnerability assessment system to ensure proper operation and to identify new critical vulnerabilities requiring immediate corrective action. Reviews new vulnerabilities to identify out-of-policy software for removal from PCs. Submits service management tickets for corrective action to the appropriate IS team for resolution
• Monitors anti-virus consoles and submits service management tickets for correction action to appropriate IS teams for resolution
• Monitors Network Intrusion Prevention System alerts and submits service management tickets for correction action to appropriate IS teams for resolution.
• Identify potential violations of Parsons corporate policies and information security policies, procedures, and standards and report to management for review.
• Prepares articles or other materials in support of information security awareness program.
• Provides end-user support for PC Hard drive and messaging encryption products.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position that may be appropriate.
Qualifications: PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Computer Science (or related curriculum) and 0 - 2 years of experience in security or IT infrastructure support.
Certifications:
CISSP Preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
An understanding of ActiveDirectory user administration tools is required.
Knowledge of IT security standards and procedures.
Written and oral communication skills appropriate for the position, including the ability to speak well in basic professional situations (may include communication via telephone or in person). Ability to write basic documents (may include email or memos). Typically communicates with a limited group of individuals (employees and some managers) throughout the organization and may occasionally communicate with those outside of the organization (i.e. clients, vendors).
