If you're an Instructional Designer with the skills and creativity to design captivating and informative training programs across a broad spectrum of media, this is your opportunity to create unique training materials to meet the demand of our dynamic organization. At Apria Healthcare, the Learning and Development department is rapidly expanding and has undergone a transformational change. The demand for our services continues to grow and we've added several new team members in recent months. This is a true Learning and Development department where you will have the foundation and support of a talented team, but the independence to take full ownership of your projects and create your vision. It's pure instructional design, not training delivery. If you're ready to break out of the mold, be creative, and join a team where you'll have a voice and be appreciated, this role might be your perfect fit.
The Role
As an Instructional Designer, you will report directly to the Manager of Learning and Development. You will design, develop, and perform on-going maintenance on instructional curricula including training programs (e.g., online programs), support materials, job aids, etc. for field and corporate employees. The audience for your training programs will include employees at the individual contributor level up through middle management.
Additionally, you will:
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluations to identify learning opportunities.
- Design and develop instructionally sound, engaging, and esthetically pleasing training programs and materials.
- For instructor-led programs you have designed, observe the training staff to ascertain that the materials flow logically, are accurate and the quality meets and/or exceeds the needs and expectations of the trainers/trainees.
- Incorporate both ADDIE and Agile instructional design methods.
Why Apria Exciting new initiatives: We have undergone transformational changes that have brought fresh talent, energy and excitement to the department. There's new management from the senior level down, and Learning and Development is a top priority. The company is making significant investments in the newest learning technology, meaning you'll have access to the tools you need.
Project variety: This role involves some maintenance activities, but there are many new projects in the queue, providing you with an opportunity to work on diverse content and partner with different subject matter experts. We do our best to match projects with interests and strengths, and often ask for volunteers before assigning work.
Growth equals opportunity: Growth opportunities are regularly made available to top performers. Members of the Learning and Development department interface with all areas of the organization, providing ample opportunities for promotion and interesting stretch assignments.
Strong foundation for continued growth: Apria already is the nation's leading provider of integrated home healthcare products and clinical services, with annual revenues of almost $2 billion, over 580 operating sites in all 50 states, and 13,000 employees. Rather than resting on those laurels, however, we are driving process improvements across the organization to prepare for continued strong growth.
Great energy: You'll find a dynamic, supportive culture at Apria, and the positive energy of a thriving industry leader. In addition, we create an environment of personal and professional growth to enhance our employees skills', knowledge and expertise in order to help them achieve their long-term goals.
Excellent compensation: In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to our full-time employees, including health, vision, disability and dental insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending plan; educational assistance; and other significant benefits. We believe strongly in work/life balance, so many of our employees take advantage of our flexible schedule options, including a 4/10 or 9/80 schedule, or the opportunity to telecommute one day each week.
Keys to Success You'll have a wide variety of work, keeping it interesting, but also be tasked with developing programs and strategies quickly. We have a dynamic culture that's hard-working and fast - deadlines come quickly. You will take the reins, being your own Project Manager, put multiple ideas on the table, show creativity, inventiveness and take a proactive posture. This is a place where you'll have the freedom to fly, but need the discipline to hit aggressive deadlines.
To find success you'll need to jump in with both feet and be willing to work across a broad development spectrum. You will have multiple projects at a time, all generally with blended learning solutions, which will require a rounded skill-set. Beyond your talent, interpersonal and relationship building skills will be paramount, as will your abilities to work with the team. While a lot of your work is done independently, you won't work in a silo. Our team sits together and collaborates - we're like-minded and like-goaled. Success will require aptitude, attitude and adaptability.
