The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of Human Resources including performance management, employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, training, employee disciplinary actions, leaves of absences, workers compensation, and workplace safety. This HR/Office Manager will also provide leadership in Labor Law and regulatory compliance along with some minor office management and bookkeeping functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct new hire orientation and handle processing of new hire paperwork
For both internal and external work force, this person will administer employee benefits programs such as health, vision, and dental insurance; 401K Plan; vacation, sick, and bereavement leave; and FMLA
Set up and communicate with employees at open enrollment times
Coordinate payroll on a bi-weekly basis, and manage compensation changes and issues
Act as liaison between employees and insurance providers regarding employee benefits coverage
Resolve employee relations issues and problems
Assist in framing policies related to retention, promotion, recruitment and career development
Coordinate the performance management process for internal employees
Review and update employee handbook, manuals, at-will employment contract, policies and procedures, and other employee correspondence
Ensure that existing HR policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with state and federal regulations
Identify HR legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and create/develop other employment-related forms, documentation, and policies as needed
Respond to benefits and HR-related inquiries from both employees and government agencies
Recommend and coordinate training and development opportunities
Work collaboratively with managers on the hiring process including job posting, screening resumes, interviewing, selection process, pre-employment background and reference checks, employment verification, etc.
Develop guidelines and provide training for a safe workplace and emergency preparedness plan
Some minor bookkeeping duties will be required – invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reimbursement,
Candidates must be flexible enough to accept some duties necessary to physical office management of a small office (i.e. internal ordering/shipping/inventory, maintaining office supplies, scheduling office maintenance and/or scheduling internal interviews, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
4-year bachelor's degree required, any concentration, specialization of advanced training/certifications in HR are a plus
1-3 years of HR and office management experience are helpful, but not required
We prefer experience with QuickBooks (or any similar small-office accounting software package)
Be detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain high level of confidentiality in all matters related to the position
Be able to pass a drug, background, and credit check
Have solid knowledge of employment principles, procedures, laws, and regulations (HIPAA)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Forward thinking, strategic, proactive, and adaptable management style
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
