POSITION SUMMARY
The Global Employment Programs Specialist is responsible for providing strategic and operational support and knowledge in the areas of employment law, contract law, and recruitment and hiring practices within a high-tech organization. The Specialist will initially be accountable for working directly with internal and external resources to proactively address the needs of the business with respect to global employment agreements and contracts, as well as internal employment letters for all levels of the organization.
The Specialist is also responsible for identifying opportunities to improve the overall hiring process, including employment contract and offer package tools and processes, on a global basis.
In addition, the Specialist provides management and coordination of the employee-related components of RIM's corporate acquisitions, working with key stakeholders and subject matter experts.
RESPONSIBILITIES * Accountability for supporting the review and development of the overall RIM approach toward global employment contracts * Contribute to the creation and enhancement of other employment-related letters, including internal transfers, promotions and status change letters on a global basis * Working with other stakeholders and subject matter experts, developing and creating programs and projects to automate and streamline offer letter and offer package generation * Analysis and support of all people-related elements of RIM's corporate acquisitions * Contribute to and lead projects and programs to strengthen RIM's approach to mergers & acquisitions, including benchmarking, process-mapping, template development and data analysis * Providing expertise on related projects, including the creation of corporate guidelines and policies and best practice documents as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * 5-7 years Human Resources Generalist, Employee Relations or similar experience * Strong working knowledge of employment law, contracts, hiring practices & employee relations * Project management experience and a sense of initiative and ownership * Strong, clear communication skills, particularly written skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively * Demonstrated ability in developing relationships; ability to influence others * Ability to work independently within a dynamic, fast-pasted environment * International experience (preferred) * Bachelor's degree in business, law or equivalent ADDITIONAL ASSETS * Masters in Industrial Relations
