HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
The Human Resources Generalist assists in the development of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-orientated, high performance culture that emphasizes safety, empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Coordinates employee and labor relations, services, policies and programs; reports to the Human Resources Manager, and assists and advises company managers, superintendents and supervisors about HR issues.
The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: department development, HRIS, recruiting, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development and recruiting and retention.
BS or BA degree preferably in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or law.
Prefer 4-6 years of experience in employee and human resources related positions with emphasis on employee relations, grievance handling or contract administration.
Technical Competencies Required

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1 Drives the employee relations and labor relations function at two manufacturing plant locations.
2 Coordinates grievance response in coordination with site management and HR Manager at the plant. Relies on past practice, contract interpretation, previous experience and impact on plant to suggest recommendations to grievances.
3 Works to maintain the union free status of workforce at 2nd Plant. Actively attends and participates in Advisory Committee meetings.
4 Complies with all existing governmental and labor laws and government reporting requirements including EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, NLRA and others; counsels managers and superintendents on these laws and regulations and HR issues. Ensures that the interests of the company and employees are protected in accordance with these laws and regulations.
5 Assists with the carrying out of a company-wide process of organizational development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design and change management.
6 Participates in High Performance Work Systems (HPWS) and makes recommendation on increased employee involvement and ownership.
7 Investigates policy or procedure violations and makes recommendations on appropriate course of action. Monitors the implementation of performance improvement process with non-performing employees. Maintains consistency with investigations and discipline between the 2 plants.
8 Attends Plant Meetings and prepares for contract negotiations with coordination of issues and recommended resolutions.
9 Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
10 Assists with employee communications and feedback through meetings, suggestion programs, surveys, focus groups, one-on-one meetings, etc.
11 Assists to establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the companys and complexs strategic goals.
12 Formulates and recommends Human resources policies and objectives for the company with regard to employee relations.
13 Assists with the recruitment process to identify motivated employees to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company and complex.
14 Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
15 Performs a variety of other HR duties as assigned.
