Position Description
Expedia, Inc. is looking for an HR Generalist to support the Expedia Local Expert Hawaii business (all islands). The ideal candidate will be located on either Oahu or Maui (offices are in Honolulu and Lahaina). As an HR Generalist you will report to the HR Director and provide expert guidance in people and organizational issues to the business. This hand-on role provides day-to-day HR services in the areas of employee relations, coaching and counseling, performance management and implementation of policy and process.

Core Responsibilities:
Translate business strategies into appropriate HR actions

Work closely with Hawaii management team-coach business leaders on managing their organizations effectively.

Provide consultation at all levels of the organization

Handle complex employee relations issues from end-to-end.

Communicate company policies and provide recommendations on how to improve internal processes

Ensure that HR files and records are maintained in accordance with legal Requirements and Company policies and procedures

Process new hire paperwork and facilitate new hire orientation

Answer employee inquiries and when appropriate direct them to the specialized team in our corporate office (e.g. benefits, payroll, training, etc)

Track and report on employee data (e.g. vacation time, payroll data, personnel files, etc)

Handle the recruiting efforts for Hawaii

Manage LOA process and worker's comp process/issues

May be responsible for the creation and launch of small scale HR Programs

Training coordinate and schedule live training sessions

Manage ergonomic requests/problems

Other duties as needed

Requirements:
5+ years well rounded HR Generalist experience in Human Resources

Working knowledge of all Areas of HR (Compensation, Recruiting, ER, Benefits/LOA)

Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices for Hawaii.

Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Excel and PowerPoint

Exceptional attention-to-detail with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines

Skilled in organizing and prioritizing competing time demands

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment

Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility

Understanding of the importance of confidentiality

Experience with Visio and PeopleSoft HR a plus

Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential matters

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced and growing business

Experienced in delivering exceptional customer service to internal customers
