Human Resources Effectiveness Consultant
The Human Resources (HR) Effectiveness Consultant functions as the project manager or work stream lead for a project. Acts as the primary day-to-day contact for the client. Develops initial recommendations and supporting documentation for proposed client solutions. Assists with new business development by managing the entire proposal process including developing draft proposals, coordinating the production and delivery of the proposal, as well as presenting proposal material at client/prospect meetings. Responsible for identifying potential sales opportunities both within and across other Mercer Lines-of-Business (LOBs) and initiates a response to those opportunities. Serves as an internal subject matter resource to HR Effectiveness (HRE) and Human Capital professionals. To fulfill this role, the Consultant will:
Be responsible for project management to include:
Planning project activities
Monitoring progress against deadlines
Managing the work of more junior team members
Overseeing the development of client deliverables
Reviewing the quality and accuracy of deliverables from more junior consultants
Identifying, escalating and resolving issues or risks
Providing status reports and facilitating/participating in weekly status meetings
Ensuring project management tools are being utilized and preparing/updating the tools
Manage the day-to-day client relationship
Perform analysis, or oversee junior consultants performing human resource related analysis, of various sources of data/information including: best practice research, client data/requirements/strategic objectives/gap analysis, HR/technical/industry knowledge, etc
Independently review data/information to draw out implications, find patterns, identify anomalies/issues, determine underlying causes, and compare information
Bring together various data and perspective to ensure a comprehensive view is available when developing client solutions
Conduct research or gather data/information to be utilized in the analysis and development of proposed client solutions
Assist with new business development by managing the entire proposal process
Identify potential sales opportunities both within and across lines of business and initiate a response to those opportunities
Based on implications/conclusions drawn from the information analyzed, develop initial recommendations for the project and evaluates client alternatives; create solutions that fit a clients unique requirements and situation
Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, human resource management or organizational psychology; Masters degree in business/human resources related field preferred
Minimum of five years consulting experience in some of the following HR strategy, HR technology, organizational effectiveness, HR organizational design and service delivery models, process redesign and vendor management
Experience with project management and demonstrated proficiency with project management and client activity systems
Broad management skills including team building and strategic and tactical management
Ability to successfully write and present proposals to executive level management
Ability to identify, design, recommend and implement efficient, innovative solutions to clients complex business issues
An understanding of all aspects of the human resource function with specialized working technical knowledge or experience in some of the following areas: benefits, communications, payroll, compensation, recruiting, staffing and/or training and development
Familiarity with the purpose, design and implementation of service centers, sourcing and internal capability assessments
Knowledge of activity-based costing analysis tools and technologies
Strong working knowledge of human resource management systems - participation in selecting and implementing one of the leading HRMS products such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Lawson, Oracle, Workday or Ultipro Solutions and/or experienced as a project manager in the implementation or management of at least one HRMS a plus
Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Visio
Superior analytical and verbal/written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and team skills
Willingness to adapt to changing work and travel requirements
