Human Resources Assistant
Position Overview The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for maintaining staffing levels and will act as the initial point on contact for all new employees. Essential Job Functions - Determines the HR requirements with input from the CSM's and Operations - Designs systems to track the success of the various ad campaigns - Review and screen all applications and resumes submitted for employment - Conduct prescreen and reference checks on employment candidates - Conduct employment interviews and ensure specific criteria for the position at hand is met - Ensure a proper introduction to the company is made at the initial stages of the application/engagement process - Ensure that all new and existing officers are uniformed properly, and that inventory levels are at appropriate levels, tracked and maintained - Coordinate, in conjunction with the Training Coordinator, class assignments for pre-assignment training and that all new personnel are provided with the appropriate training - Track and monitor relevant statistics regarding new hires, attrition and the reasons - Perform the new employee orientation and ensure every new hire has received the new employee orientation - Ensure all statutory requirements are met. This includes employee licensing, WCB and Employment Standards - Ensure current and prospective employees are provided with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits - Track all relevant internal and external training employees receive and ensures all databases are updated - Ensure the personnel files are kept up to date and secure following the framework of the relevant Privacy Act in the respective jurisdiction and corporate privacy policies - Establishes open lines of communication between the various operations staff (supervisors and managers) to gather input on day to day events - Participate in weekly H/R meetings and report relevant information as required by the Operations Manager and HR Manager - Cover reception area as required Requirements - Professional appearance - Interviewing skills or willingness to be trained - Knowledge of the relevant legislative statutes (incl. licensing, WCB and Employment Standards) - Creative ability to evaluate and create new ideas for effective recruiting - Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm - Proven maturity to effectively handle and prioritize competing demands with short deadline - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment - Excellent time management and organizational skill - High regard for accuracy and attention to detail - Proficient use in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel All interested applicants must submit a resume and cover letter to Human Resources at only those applicants who are short-listed will be contacted for an interview.
