HS Associate Technical Intern (Fall 2012)
Title: HS Associate Technical Intern (Fall 2012) Location: United States-Iowa-Cedar Rapids, IA Other Locations: Interns in the High School Technical Internship Program (HSTIP) provide technical assistance to a multi-functional Engineering team developing communications and aviation electronics on a variety of programs (e.g., MRW, KC-46, C130, KC-10). While assisting Engineers and Managers during various phases of product development, HSTIP interns develop both "hard" (technical) and "soft" (communication, teamwork, etc.) skills. Intern assignments include a variety of tasks associated with Systems Requirements, Design, Code & Unit test, Integration, Validation and Verification, and Field testing. Although not typical, other tasks could include those pertaining to Hardware or Mechanical aspects of product development. Interns typically work individually and/or with their peers, in an office and/or lab environment.

Per the following timeline, HSTIP internships begin annually in September:
September - March Applications accepted & interviews conducted for next fall April Candidates evaluated May Invitations sent out for voluntary (unpaid) training classes June - July 6-week pre-internship training classes (SW and/or HW) August Employment offers extended toselectedapplicants September Internships begin

Work experience (when & where) · either paid or unpaid · any Workplace Learning Connection (WLC) job shadows or internships 6. Honors, awards, or leadership positions 7. Any other relevant information (including personal references) Minimum Qualifications: * Applicant must be a full-time student and currently enrolled in high school (or home school) as a freshman, sophomore or junior * Current high school seniorswithoutprevious Rockwell experience are not eligible to apply * Applicant must be at least 16 years old prior to employment start date (i.e. students can be less than 16 years old at time of application) * Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance (paid for by Rockwell Collins) * Applicant must have a strong aptitude in STEM-related coursework. * Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. * Applicant must be able to work:
* 10 hours per week during the school year, and * 30 hours per week during the summer.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Excellent communication skills 2. Cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 3. Mature, responsible, and self-motivated 4. Computer programming experience (Selected applicants may have an opportunity to fulfill this Preferred Qualification through a 6-week Computer Programming course offered by Rockwell-Collins during the summer)
