ACCO Brands Corporation, one of the world’s largest suppliers of branded office products, with annual revenues of over $1.3 billion, is seeking an HR Operations Resource Director. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Talent Management & HR Shared Services, this important leadership position is responsible for the effective operation of the US HR Resource Center (HRC). This challenging role has responsibility for effectively managing vendor relationships, leveraging information systems, and employee teams to guarantee operational efficiency and administrative excellence.
The HR Operations Resource Director is responsible for managing the HR Resource Center, US Payroll activities, HRIS & HR Technology and related vendor relationships for the ACCO Brands business. This position will be responsible for defining business requirements, design, implementation, and management of all - shared services initiatives regionally, while working in coordination with a variety of outsource partners, ACCO Brands HR Subject Matter Experts, and HR Business Partners representing the company’s Business Units and Regions.
Responsibilities will include:
As a critical member of the HRSS Leadership team, design strategic technological solutions to our global challenges, manage the technological linkages across business segments and regions, and manage the US technology foundation of the HRIS.
Overall Management of the ACCO HR Resource Center staff including work-stream / capacity planning, employee coaching & development, performance management, day-to-day direction, including the employee relations function, etc.
Manage – HRO vendor relationships while working with Subject Matter Experts and others as needed to meet operational needs and execute project plans, business initiatives and appropriately communicate project needs and outcomes-
Responsible for all US payroll processes – oversee Gross to Net vendor processing, audit of weekly and bi-weekly payroll runs ensuring accuracy and timeliness of processing. Partner internally with Treasury related to funding processes, partner with Finance regarding chart of accounts and with Executive Compensation regarding and executive perquisites and related payroll activities.
Lead year-end / year-begin payroll activities. Oversee delivery of Form W-2’s for the US employee population.
Oversee the design and reporting on all HR departmental metrics (i.e.; diversity, turnover, attrition, headcount).
Facilitate Company Affirmative Action Plans and complete required EEO reporting and data analysis.
Development of solutions and strategies for new applications, technologies, process, etc., in alignment with organizational initiatives and business needs while working in coordination with HR Leadership, HR Subject Matter Experts and HR Business Partners.
Primary HR liaison and point-of-contact with Finance, IT, Compliance, Legal, and HR Site personnel. This position will actively participate in all SOX and related audit activities.
Coordination and management of system and vendor interfaces working with Subject Matter Experts and others as needed.
Manage processes and guidelines for implementation of changes to HRIS and payroll information.
Leverage system capabilities to provide timely reports, documents, etc. Often requires ad-hoc report writing capabilities utilizing various data sources, i.e., Access DB’s, Cognos, etc. -
Ensure accuracy and integrity of all data that is maintained, recorded, reported, etc.
Overall management of HRC operational budget including the payments (reconciling, approving and remitting payments through A/P) related to HR Service Center initiatives.
Maintains and provides a Client Authorization Matrix to outsource partners as needed.
Determines and maintains security level access/approvals for HR to Ceridian and administration of security access as needed.
Design and implementation of disaster recovery plan for key HR records.
Streamline and continuously improve current processes while providing daily operations and support to end users (Employees, Managers, HRBPs)
Perform other duties as assigned by VP, Global Talent Management & HR Shared Services.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have led HR organizations on a similar scope and scale, driving operational excellence and cost effectiveness. Critical knowledge of “hire to retire” HR practices and expertise should also include strong technical and functional competencies, as well as the following:
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems / Human Resources or related field is required.
Advanced Degree or other HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR) is a plus
10+ years of demonstrated experience in a Human Resources / Systems / with 3+ years in a Management role
Ability to interact with HR professionals on topics across the entire HR body of knowledge
Experience in working with and managing outsource partners in HR administration as it relates to processes, data, rules and procedures, policy formulation, HRIS database design
3+ years of recent experience with HR payroll and HRIS, specific experience and knowledge of Ceridian HPW is preferred
3+ years experience managing a shared service center or similar environment or skill sets
Experience in business process redesign, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Able to think strategically, act operationally and balance those abilities depending on the context and situation.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills
Strong “solutions” driven skill set with excellent business acumen, financial bottom-line orientation and the ability to successfully plan, organize, integrate and measure a growing and complex information technology organization.
Demonstrated success leading an HR function into a best-run, efficient and value add organization.
Proven success in applying technology to improve timeliness, accuracy, quality and cost effectiveness of information and services.
