HR assistant
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Record Retention: ensure all employee and department electronic and physical files are maintained; filing is current and accurate; files are kept secured and confidential at all times; and manage the department?s compliance with regulatory and internal policy regarding record retention and destruction. Assist with new hire processing such as preparation of offer packets, I-9 verification, background checks, W-4 documentation, ID and system access Manage approval process for personnel requisitions and changes for regular staff, temps, per diems, interns and volunteers Update and maintain intranet files such as forms, documents, phone directories, organization charts, etc. Process invoices, expense reports and other related documents; code and track payments Plan and coordinate employee meetings and events Conduct research for projects, write/prepare reports and presentations, gather and analyze data Administratively support department staff as needed, including without limitation, scheduling meetings, handling correspondence, tracking projects Assist with training sessions ? Liaise with other New York Public Radio departments to ensure a smooth inter-department work flow ? Comply with all New York Public Radio policies and guidelines ? Maintain confidentiality, internally and externally, of all employee, department and station information ? This position requires use of a computer, telephone and other office and/or broadcast equipment; ability to communicate effectively through a variety of methods Ability to work extended hours as needed Additional duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications: Undergraduate degree required; prefer concentration/coursework in HR 1-2 years of work experience; prior HR experience strongly preferred; year of increasingly responsible experience supporting an HR department or executive required Knowledge of relevant human resources policies, regulations, principles, procedures and legislative provisions governing staffing, equal employment opportunity and administration required Demonstrated discretion and ability to work with confidential information required Demonstrated ability to navigate the web environment self-sufficiently Requires the intellectual and emotional depth, maturity, self-confidence and interpersonal skills to work effectively and/or interact with other HR staff, executives at WNYC, colleagues and candidates Excellent communication skills?both oral and written?with an impressive reputation for building and maintaining relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of cultural, generational, ethnic, racial, educational and social backgrounds ?
