Job/Project Description: Amgen's Medical Communications department at our Thousand Oaks headquarters is looking for a graduate student interested in a 10 - 12 week internship. The intern will be integrated as a member of the Medical Communications team and will learn functions associated with Scientific Affairs at Amgen. Tasks will vary and may include, but are not limited to: developing and delivering an impactful presentation or resources, conducting and participating in promotional medical review, involvement in publication planning, observing sales training, and partnering with cross functional colleagues. The projects related to this opportunity will provide the intern with a better understanding of the role of Scientific Affairs within the biopharmaceutical industry and the role of the Medical Communications Department at Amgen. The intern will conduct literature searches, explore methods of data communication and develop impactful presentations to the department during the internship. The intern will be provided the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues within the biopharmaceutical industry, allowing the student to understand functional roles and explore career options within a biotechnology company.

Basic Qualifications Must have completed minimum 1 year of study in a clinical pharmacy doctorate program by the start of the internship Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: • Must be 18 years or older; • Must be a current full time student • Must have not yet graduated; • Must be in good academic standing within their majors and overall at their university; • Must be enrolled in school the fall season following the potential internship or co-op assignment. • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications Must have optimally completed at least 2 years of study in a clinical pharmacy doctorate program by the start of the internship. Have an interest in Scientific Affairs within the biopharmaceutical industry. A successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills: strong project management skills, ability to think critically and work independently, excellent interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail. Should be able to interact with various individuals and have a basic understanding of how to conduct literature searches and evaluate clinical trial data.
