Role Description: The Ernst & Young Global Services People Team (EYGS People Team) provides strategic HR support to EYGS Leadership and the functions that form EYGS. These functions include IT Services, Knowledge, Procurement, Finance, EYG Strategic Centre (operational support also provided) plus a number of smaller areas. The people employed in these functions (over 4,500 and rising) are employed throughout the world.
The role of People Consultant plays an active role in supporting the development of the HR agenda for global populations. People Consultants business partner with the leadership of their client group to ensure effective and efficient management of HR support across the globe. Working as part of a virtual, core HR team People Consultants are also responsible for participating in the delivery of key people projects such as employee engagement. This position works closely with more senior people consultant positions within the EYGS People Team to implement and affect people programs and processes for their respective client groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Works with appropriate country HR contacts for resolution/management of employee relations issues.
Through direct interaction with clients or stakeholders (as appropriate), advises on/communicates about various people-related processes, guidelines and initiatives.
Responsible for reporting & analysis of people related data (i.e. consolidating reports from multiple countries, creating ad hoc reports, bi-weekly or monthly reporting on HR related processes or projects).
Advises on and/or coordinates the implementation of recurring (HR) processes as appropriate (e.g. including but not limited to: performance management, compensation, career development, recruiting). Makes process improvement suggestions and recommendations.
Identifies and escalates HR concerns and risks as appropriate.
Participates in global HR projects identified in the global scorecard (e.g., building HR Global practices and standards to be used across the globe).
May assist in the design and implementation of HR programs and processes for some client groups.
Builds and develops a network of contacts on behalf of the team; build knowledge of key issues in order to effectively identify priorities.
May act as first point of contact for Sub-Area HR colleagues around the globe. Will need to build and maintain key relationship with these colleagues through regular touch points, conference call, and general communication to ensure effective and consistent flow of information and consultation.
May perform some transactional work related to people projects.
Act as the coordinator for recruiting for key client groups. Responsible for managing approvals, communicating the process, providing information to appropriate recruiters in the field, and tracking activity on a monthly basis.
Uses judgment & knowledge to manage current issues and respond to queries in a timely fashion.
Takes ownership of inquires, referring/escalating to another team member when appropriate
General Support
Provide additional operational support to senior members of the team, which may include the following:
Collate project updates from the EYGS People Team and share with EYGS People Team leadership
Support ad hoc queries from the other team members (e.g., creation of templates, communication plans and process documents)
Leverage the Global Shared Services Centre (GSS) as appropriate for reporting requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
An advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Proven experience with reporting, manipulating data , merging spreadsheets, etc.
Proven experience of working within a Human Resources environment, ideally in an operational role, including the coordination of performance reviews and the annual salary review
Experience handling various employee related issues and inquiries.
Understanding of HR processes and policies.
Ability to handle and manipulate people data (from multiple sources) in order to provide analysis and summary information
Demonstrated experience working in a team in a fast paced corporate environment.
Working knowledge of people systems
Experience working within a multinational and multicultural organization where they have had to build relationships across virtual teams
Experience of working in a partnership or matrix structure firm is an advantage but not essential
Ability to multi task, manage multiple constituents and multiple deadlines
Ability to build relationships at various levels of the organization
