JOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, the Leave Analyst is responsible for administering assigned employee leave situations, including state and federal FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, and workers’ compensation.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The following are essential job accountabilities:
  • Support FMLA and multi-state FMLA programs in strict compliance with company policies and applicable laws including: managing highly confidential information, determining eligibility, designating leave status, tracking leave, re-certifying leave and coordinating leave with other leave programs. (e.g., workers’ compensation, sick/vacation leave).
  • Develop and maintain a return to work process for approved leaves including assisting in the placement of employees returning with physical limitations and coordinating job accommodation discussions making recommendations based on ADA guidelines and business feasibility as necessary.
  • Under limited supervision, reviews and approves/denies assigned medical/family /personal leave requests based on eligibility and medical criteria set forth in regulations. Utilizes independent judgment and knowledge when evaluating health conditions and seeks outside medical or legal review when necessary. When in doubt of the accurate decision, engages further resources to determine appropriate conclusion.
  • Identifies all payroll and time-entry actions, including entering time for all approved leaves. Contacts and assists necessary parties when discrepancies are identified.
  • Point of contact for questions from colleagues, supervisors, and human resource managers on the Company leave of absence policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Education: Associates degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Risk Management or a related field or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: 2 years experience administering HR policies

Basic Skill Requirements:
Skills--Administrative: Keep current on all policy, product and procedural changes. Ability to manage time and materials effectively. Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks while effectively servicing clients in a timely manner -Organizational Skills - Time management - Decision Making - Negotiation - Planning Skills - Listening Skills - Stress Tolerance - Self-direction - Voice clarity - Multi-tasking

Skills--Machine: Use of basic office equipment (e.g., photocopier, voice mail, "fax" machine, calculator, multiple line telephones, typewriter, computers etc.), or use of basic hand tools. Use of HRIS and time keeping systems.

Analyze: Problems are solved by researching and analyzing information before recommending/selecting the appropriate solution.

Communicate: Written communication skills to convey complex information, where examples of format sometimes exist, but not content (e.g. explaining a theory, proposal, or strategy, etc.). Scope of Position: Colleague is required to act independently on routine requests, and will seek guidance on exceptions and other non-routine requests.
