Director of Talent Strategy and Succession

Job Title : Director of Talent Strategy and Succession (Merchandising and Planning)
Overview :
The Director of Talent Strategy and Succession will have responsibility for the development of talent management strategy and initiatives. The individual will be responsible for facilitating/supporting planning, talent assessment, performance management, and key talent metrics. The position will be responsible for diversity initiatives.
Key Accountabilities :
  • Develop and implement talent succession and retention strategies to build and sustain a robust pipeline of talent. Forecast talent gaps and risks using both internal and external data.
  • Network inside and outside of retail to ensure that contemporary talent strategies are in place and under development
  • Serve as the project manager for key talent initiatives. Roll out of the new Career Path initiative and measure effectiveness of initiative on the talent
  • Work with HR Directors in building FOB and job level strategies in three year time windows
  • Partner closely with L& D to ensure full utilization of existing tools and programs to enhance leadership development
  • Ensure succession plans are in place to identify best-qualified successors and address development needs of identified employees
  • Develop and implement metrics/measures to monitor the effectiveness and business impact of talent initatives
  • Identify and suggest participant recommendation for key leadership programs such as Strategic Leaders and MLPD
  • Specific programs/processes/initiatives:
    • Succession Planning (owner of Success Factors)
    • LPR and Performance Appraisal
    • Mentoring
Skills Summary :
  • 5-10 years HR/ Talent experience w/Director level or equivalent experience preferably in Merchandising/Planning
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are critical
  • Experience in presentation, creation and delivery will be important
  • Experience in developing implementing talent strategies
  • Ability to collaborate with a broad variety of leaders and stakeholders
