Job Summary: Illumina is a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of life science tools and integrated systems for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Employee Communications to oversee the creation, preparation and delivery of internal employee communications in support of Illumina's strategic, operational and cultural initiatives. This position plays a key role in using strategic communication as a tool to drive higher levels of employee engagement and performance in a rapidly growing and dynamic global environment.

Job Responsibilities

. Develop and manage short and long term strategic employee communications plans, tools and processes designed to increase awareness, engagement and employee performance.
. Manage preparation and distribution of communication vehicles including intranet, email, marketing collateral in support of HR initiatives, employee events, websites, webcasts, and other push and pull technologies, working with internal and managing external resources as needed to enable execution.
. Ability to harmonize messaging to ensure consistency of translation and interpretation in various cultures and languages.
. Act as central point of contact within the HR organization to align communications efforts and ensure that top level messages are supported.
. Coordinate global communications strategies with key stakeholders, including executive staff, HR leaders, corporate Marketing, Investor Relations, and Global Information Systems.
. Provide in-house writing, editorial support and oversight for the HR organization with an emphasis on HR programs and initiatives.
. Oversees the development of user interfaces, content and branding for employee and HR-focused websites with an eye on telling the "Illumina Employee Experience."
. Regularly update senior management as to the progress and impact of programs.

Job Requirements

. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
. 6-8 years of successful experience in the communications arena, managing communications across complex global organizations with a minimum of 3 years emphasis on internal communications.
. Strong working knowledge of traditional and non-traditional communications platforms, including digital, print and events.
. Experience developing and executing internal communications strategies and evaluating/measuring the effectiveness of internal communications.
. Strong interpersonal and organizational savvy skills; ability to interact comfortably with a broad spectrum within the organization to gain consensus.
. Demonstrated written communications skills; experience writing for a variety of voices and channels.
. Strong project management skills - ability to define success criteria, identify project risks, opportunities and core stakeholders and effectively manage scope, teams, timelines, details and budgets.
. Must have strong customer service skills with attention to detail.
. Must be a team player and be flexible.
. Must be a motivated, confident self-starter able to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
