Currently we are looking for a Benefits Administrator to join our Human Resources team at our corporate office in Potomac, MD.  The Benefits Administrator is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of Total Wine’s group benefit programs.  This includes the administration and communication of TWM benefit programs, identifying and implementing benefits to increase the quality of life for team members and assist in managing costs for the company.  Therefore, the ideal candidate will have superb customer service and problem-solving skills, and be able to communicate both with external vendors and employees across all levels of the company.  Additionally, the position will provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.  The role coordinates work flow and procedures between human resources, accounting, and payroll departments to ensure payroll deductions and provider invoices are handled and processed correctly, and is directly responsible for monthly reconciliations.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced benefits professional with an entrepreneurial spirit looking to develop, brand and grow an emerging facet of our company.

Essential Functions:



  • Manage the account relationships with plan vendors and third party administrators.  Coordinate the transfer of data from internal eligibility to external carriers
  • Assist in the management of the benefit renewal process and coordinate the annual open enrollment process
  • Define benefits strategies for each major program and help align the program structure to the objective
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefit processes.  Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Administer all employee benefit programs to include voluntary benefits, life, medical, dental, vision, disability, flexible spending, 401(k) and tuition reimbursement
  • Evaluate the usage and effectiveness of benefit programs and propose changes as necessary
  • Develop and implement benefits communication strategies to maximize the value of benefits to the employees and organization
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA,FLSA, FMLA  and other related federal, state and local legislation governing employee benefit and compensation plans
  • Review and update benefit and compensation handbooks and documents such as Summary Plan Descriptions
  • Write and maintain a variety of routine reports and special request reports
  • Prepare, collect and organize data for compensation and benefit plan audits and reporting
  • Select and present recommendations for changes and enhancements to benefits offerings
  • Coordinate with third party benefit administrators and team members by assisting in handling team member benefits-related questions
  • Perform benefit surveys and analysis – may include compensation surveys as needed
  • Manage year-end and wrap-up functions (plan audits, filings, etc.)
  • Monitors competitive trends in compensation/benefits and evaluates alternatives and costs
  • HRIS duties as defined relative to our software system of record – Kronos



Requirements:


  • BA/BS required
  • PHR, CEBS, or related benefits and compensation certification a plus
  • 3 - 4 years experience in benefits management and administration with a fast paced, multi-unit, high service level environment
  • Additional HR certifications a plus – especially Comp and/or Benefits related
  • Previous Kronos and bSwift experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to hit deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and grammatical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2007
  • Team player
