Associate Director (San Jose Laboratory)
Title: Associate Director (San Jose Laboratory) Location: California-San Jose Overview: Reporting to PSJL Managing Director, the Associate Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from project management (creating new project opportunities, framing of key approaches, high-quality project delivery) to administration (e.g. reporting, performance reviews) and human capital management(HR/recruiting, mentoring, career progression). The Associate Director will work closely with the PSJL Managing Director to establish strategy and direction.
In this role the Associate Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, which may include project schedules, project planning and other operational or program activities.
Responsibilities · Structure and lead teams to deliver outstanding client work. · Build and maintain strong relationships with PSJL sponsors · Develop leadership around specific topics/emerging practice areas · Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting and communications · Partner with the Managing Director in managing workflow and business processes such as; (Human Resources, Administration, and Organizational Planning) · Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities · Mentoring, coaching; Visible, approachable sounding board/resource · Prepares, reviews, edits, and approves reports · In partnership with Group Managers, supervise project activities and ensure that quality results are delivered to corporate sponsors.
Qualifications · 5 years or more years in a senior management position preferably with a Consumer Electronics company. · Advanced degree (PhD. or Master) from a leading university preferred. · Track record delivering superior results, commanding respect, and assuming leadership roles · Ability to direct and organize program activities and supervise the work of others · Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities. · Good understanding of established and emerging technologies such as sensing, network, user interfaces and Web technologies · Proven ability to work with efficiency and flexibility · Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people · Experience with new concept development and user experience design · Experience with Design thinking and foresight innovation methods is a plus. · Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the laboratory strategy · Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential. · Ability to develop and evaluate policies and procedures
