Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Membership
About the Position:The Western Washington University Foundation is seeking an Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Association Membership. The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall coordination of Foundation direct mail and e-campaigns including strategic planning, goal setting, scheduling and implementation, student fundraising efforts, and Alumni Association membership campaigns. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Membership works closely with Advancement colleagues, deans, department chairs, faculty and staff and reports to the Director of Annual Giving. This position is a full time, 12-month administrative FLSA exempt with an excellent benefit package, including over 4 weeks of vacation. This position is available immediately.
About the Department:University Advancement includes the Alumni Association, WWU Foundation and Special Events and exists to support Western Washington University by building enduring relationships with its constituents and raising funds from private resources. University Advancement staff members provide broad-based programming for alumni to create life-long relationships and raise, process, manage and steward annual and major gifts from alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations. Both the Alumni Association and the Foundation are 501(c)(3) organizations with volunteer boards. Position Responsibilities:Responsible for setting fundraising and participation goals for each Annual Giving direct mail campaign, implementing and overseeing Alumni Association membership campaigns, identifying and implementing enhancements to Foundation direct mail and Alumni Association membership campaigns, establishing a calendar of solicitations and writing copy for appeal letters, brochures, email correspondence or appeals and other printed materials. Responsible for tracking results, creating metrics and sharing results with fundraising staff. Responsible for personally soliciting and managing a portfolio of prospects. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree * Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite to mail merge, analyze statistics and produce graphical representation of data * 2 or more years fundraising experience * Demonstrated ability to analyze statistics, track metrics and prepare reports * Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: * Experience fundraising in higher education * Strong customer service skills * Experience working with a diverse student body and staff Academic Emphasis:N/A Job Location:Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA
