Description Due to growth and opportunity, we are adding an Assistant Director, Human Resources at our 850+ refinery located in Rosemont, MN. This is a role with growth opportunity and may require relocation. The role will support the HR Director in the overall assessment of human resources business systems and strategic direction while ensuring all HR functions are effectively performed in a union and non-union environment. In this role, you manage three direct reports and will be responsible for the management of general HR functions, which typically include employee relations, policy administration, compensation, merit planning, talent development, AA and EEO administration, investigations, regulatory compliance, performance management, and discipline.
Strategic Partnering: Effectively partnering with the HR Director to set and drive strategic initiatives. Execute short and long-term action plans and coordinate HR initiatives to meet site and department goals and objectives. Function as primary contact for line and staff representatives
HR Compliance Systems: The role will support the HR Director in the assessment and management of the current human resources business systems and compliance programs. Identify the opportunities to integrate systems, assess weakness and ensure overall compliant administration of programs and policies.
Organizational Development: In coordination with the Corporate Learning and Performance group, identify organizational leadership and technical skill deficiencies. Lead the development and management of the locations leadership and technical skill training strategies. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and cost of training programs.
Talent Management: Drive application of the FHR Talent Management System, succession planning processes and individual development plans. Coach, counsel, and implement corrective action to improve job performance and plant results. Supervise, develop and provide feedback to direct reports to ensure goals and objectives are achieved and improve operating efficiency.
EEOC and Diversity: Work collaboratively with recruiting manager and department managers to support Affirmative Action Plans. Investigate formal and informal complaints, assess risk, and determine appropriate resolution. Provide active support and direction for the site diversity initiatives and facilitate related EEOC and diversity training.
Required Experience/Skills:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive human resources experience including 3 years in a management position
Strong leadership and influencing skills
Experience with compensation and payroll
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Must be self-directed, organized and able to handle multiple priorities
Excellent judgment and sensitivity in handling confidential matters.
BA/BS in HR or related business degree
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Labor Contract administration and grievance resolution
Experience leading organizational development programs
Experience in a large manufacturing/production environment
Advanced degree and/or SPHR preferred
