Harborview Medical Center Administration has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Administrator - Finance. This individual will serve as a senior level financial resource for the Medical Center's Executive Director and Executive Team. Coordinate with and serve as a primary point of integration between the Medical Center as well as the UW Medicine Financial Operations Officer and UW Medicine Financial Planning Officer. Serve as both a member of the Medical Center Executive Team and the Health System Finance Team.

The Assistant Administrator - Finance will provide leadership for activities at Harborview Medical Center that promote:

* Effective operational problem solving and communication at all levels.

* Effective support to the organization on financial issues

* Effective interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration and service coordination.

* Effective evaluation of departmental practices and continuous process improvement.

This position reports to the Harborview Medical Center Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:


* Financial performance- Work with Medical Center senior leadership to develop strategies, goals and priorities for improving financial performance. Collaborate with health system Director of Finance and health system Director of Accounting to ensure that appropriate levels of financial analysis and controls evaluation are performed and that projects and initiatives which focus on achieving the Medical Center's financial performance objectives are executed.


* Integration with health system Finance- Play a leadership role in ensuring solid integration and alignment of Health System Financial Services and the Medical Center. In collaboration with health system Finance, ensure financial policies established at the health system level, as well as Internal Audit and control issues, are both understood and operationalized at the Medical Center. Work collaboratively with the health system entities and Finance to ensure that entity level financial initiatives are consistent with health system goals.


* Provide senior level leadership to financially related projectsthat support the achievement of business goals for the Medical Center. Work with the executive team to establish the Leadership Evaluation Management (LEM) goals for the entity and to ensure they are well understood.


* Prepare and present written and verbal reportsto Medical Center and health system executive management and governing Boards as requested.


* New Service Development- In collaboration with other leaders, provide inputs to the financial and strategic evaluation, development and implementation of new services and lines of business at the Medical Center, consistent with the values and strategic objectives of UW Medicine.


* Quality Initiatives to Reduce Costs and Improve Value- Work collaboratively with the Medical Director and Operational leadership on quality initiatives in order to reduce practice variation, improve quality and reduce costs.


* System Role- Identify opportunities for greater efficiencies, reduced expenses and improved service level across the system.


* Human Resources- Train, mentor and motivate staff in a manner that attracts and retains strong performers. Encourage innovation and recognize excellence. Deal with performance issues appropriately, fairly and timely. Achieve employee satisfaction scores above the enterprise mean through execution of Patients Are First principles.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field AND seven to ten years of experience as a senior financial management professional in a large hospital or healthcare system. Academic Medical Center or large integrated health system experience strongly preferred.

Desired:
CPA. Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration.
